“Will the Real Blue Beetle Please Stand Up Die,” by Keith Griffin and artist Scott Kolins, is a good issue for someone who is first starting to read Blue Beetle comics: I can say that because this is the first Blue Beetle comic that I have ever read. Blue Beetle isn't a character I follow, so I don't know much about him. Before reading, I only knew of him from an episode of Smallville. Even though this comic didn't make me want to buy every Blue Beetle comic there ever was, it did give me more insight about what his life is like outside of that one episode of Smallville.

One part that amused me was
the b-
anter between Brenda and Paco. She's mad at him because he said “Bless you,” when she sneezed. She thinks it's insulting, instead of being polite, because according to her, people used to think that a sneeze was the body's way of releasing evil spirits from the body. It is also nice to see that the hero gets his ass kicked in the start of the fight that takes place. It's refreshing to see a fight where you're not sure who is going to win and a fight that doesn’t only let the hero to get in all the punches. Of course, it's always nice to see the hero win at the end, which Blue Beetle does.

The Verdict: It's a good comic for a first time Blue Beetle reader or someone that only knows a little bit about him. There's action in this issue and the fight lasts more than just a couple of pages, which makes it fun to read.
